A lot to be said about "buying" locally. Actually, we should not be buying dogs and cats but adopting the homeless and abused animals. We may want to start asking if any animals are on the flight manifest of the aircraft we fly on next time. Then we can voice our concern about their welfare if there happens to be a delay. What are the rules for animals on delayed flights? The humans are covered. Not well, but they are covered. I can think of a lot of dogs and cats I would rather have sitting next to me on a flight than a human.
