Cell Phones & Electronic Cash - CBS News

Earlier, I had asked why we can't swipe our credit card at our table in the restaurant as they so in Europe. Then I remembered other tech savvy countries and their methods of payment. Why can't we just "bump" our smart phone with the eatery's own "portable" payment terminal and be done with the whole transaction at the table. If you can do it at a vending machine you should be able to do it in a restaurant, department store and petrol station. As a technological country, the U.S. is still spinning is wheels in the twentieth century.
